*sniff*

It’s been a frustrating week. I actually had all these ideas for posts, but then I went and got myself a bad cold. I had to lie in bed for two days (couldn’t go to work and missed a planned trip to Kalgoorlie) until I was bored and fed up but then again I was seriously lacking in energy, muzzy-headed and unable to string a coherent sentence together. Paco was sympathetic and lay beside me the first day, but started getting bored by the second day (and kept prodding me to try to make me respond) and started looking alarmed every time I coughed. I am so glad this is a long weekend. I’ve sent my apologies for Dutch class tomorrow, and I hope to lie in bed some more (but with good books, Scramble games and lots of tea) and stay out of the rain.

Timing is everything

It’s most annoying - I have a very sore throat and am not feeling my usual chipper self. Just in time for the long weekend, too!

How to write a memorable job application

Memorable Good

1. Hooray for brief, let-me-get-straight-to-the-point applications! (If you write a three-page cover letter, I’m not going to be able to enjoy reading it, regardless of how well you write. Not when there are 63 other applications to get through. Sorry.)

Memorable Bad

1. PLEASE consider using a different email address when you’re applying for a job. Does an email address like slacker1986@yahoo.com really project the sort of image you would like a potential employer to have of you? (There were worse more amusing ones in this batch; email addresses have been changed to protect the clueless)
