Gift

One of my colleagues brought me this lovely glass pen while she was in Europe recently.

“I thought of you when I saw it,” she said.

I was so overwhelmed I forgot to ask exactly where she bought it. (I think it could be Italian glass - Murano? - but I’m not certain. Update: My colleague has just confirmed that yes, she found the pen in Murano!)

It’s most pleasant to write with, ever so slightly toothy without being excessively scratchy. (Toothy is a “technical” term used by fountain pen enthusiasts to describe nibs that write “rough”; it is not usually a positive trait for a nib. You want a smooth nib.)

I actually handwrite quite a few things in the course of my day - notes, addresses on envelopes, signatures - but I don’t think I will be using this pen at work.

that is one beautiful pen, I would love to own something that pretty. Although I am quite sure that I would be terrified to use it just in case it broke!!

That’s exquisite! And lots of kudos to her for bringing it back safely in her luggage.

Yes, it was very nice of her. Even better, I have been thoroughly enjoying writing with it.
